    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Fun is an understatement, I loved every second of it! Driving around different cars everyday, helping customers and developing business skills are just some of the day to day duties. I didn't want to leave!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Most employees who they hire are just out of university in the Enterprise management trainee program. With your colleagues at a similar age as you, they quickly become good friends. Going to work with your friends everyday, makes it enjoyable and a more dynamic work place. You are given the same authority as a management trainee and do everything they would do in their first few months.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • In your first few days, you are quickly introduced to the management structure of the company. In my branch there were 4 employees, 2 assistant managers, and the branch manager. This means that there is always a manager to assist and support you at all times.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Working at one of the busiest branches in the area, there was never a point where I was bored. Your multi-tasking skills are tested everyday. Handling several customers, while on the phone and dealing with a bunch of emails in a 5 minute time span is crazy at first, but you quickly adapt. If you love being busy and constantly pushing yourself to achieve more, this is the job for you!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You are given complete control over however you want to deal with different customers. The goal at the end of the day is to make sure the customer is completely satisfied with the rental, so do what you have to do! The computer system is extremely flexible and there is a lot of responsibility to making sure everything gets done right. I had the chance to drive many exotic cars including a Maserati, this pretty much sums up the responsibility they give you. As I said before, you are given the same responsibility as the full time management trainee's.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed over the past couple months have been skills for life. Sales, management, marketing, teamwork, just to name a few. Each branch is managed completely by the branch manager and your team, we run the branch how we want. You are learning how to run a business inside and out, It doesn't get better than that.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It's like working with your friends everyday! It's hard work, but everyones in it together. You are constantly competing with your colleagues while having good fun. Meeting new customers makes everyday different. Having a lobby full of customers with phones ringing is exciting and challenging, but tackling this with your friends/colleagues is great fun!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This is where Enterprise surprised me. The whole organisation of the internship was flawless. Having several meetings in the regional and group offices, attending several training modules, having one on one reviews with my managers were just some of the points which built this amazing internship structure.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended several training modules in which the company payed for a car to travel in, gas, food, everything! I was taken to a free lunch every week with a manager, whether this was to discuss my personal development, intern project or just to catch up. Every other week, we took a corporate account out to a happy hour with us, all payed for. I was also lucky enough to be in one of the top performing branches in the region, this entitled us to go to an exclusive restaurant for a very expensive steak! And if you are one of the top performing employees of the region, you get a day off work to go to another free lunch! Enterprise are excellent at looking after their employees. They are constantly trying to make the most out of every single employee, with fun training modules and unbeatable hands on business experience.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After the internship, I got offered a full time graduate job after university. I have had a lot more fun with Enterprise than I thought I would. Joining their management trainee graduate program is a very tempting offer for next year.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I worked very closely with the five other interns in the region. Working in different branches, we always had funny stories to tell about our individual branches. While working in the branch, you also have an intern project to do. This is usually finding a way to improve the business, implementing it and then presenting the idea to the big managers at the end of the internship. Working as a team with the other interns in your region and competing against the other intern teams in the group is a great way to meet the other interns.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • For being in one of the most beautiful places in the world, everything is cheap.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As your colleagues quickly become your best friends, the branch nearly always goes out and has some fun after a hard day at work.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Working five minutes from a city and beach, if you want to go surfing on your lunch break, go for it!
