The Role
I enjoyed it thourougly and was given an excelent insight into the oil & gas industry
I was given real work to do and my suggestions were taken on board
There was support if needed but was generally left to make my own decisions - advice was never to far away though and I was given a buddy and supervisor who were there to support me
I was given a project right from the offset
A reasonable amount for a summer placement
Presentation skills were vastly improved and also project management skills were developed. Made me more aware of the engineering skills needed to complete projects
The Company
People were focused but also friendly and liked a joke here and there
Excellent structure with a supervisor and buddy always there to give advice Project right from the word go Got to go offshore which is something only a few Oil & Gas companies do - BP certainly dont bother sending you offshore unless there is a business need (which there aint with a student)
BOSIET training to go offshore - ~£800 Presentation skills development Regular supervisor interaction to find and develop areas of weakness
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
