Overall Rated 7.6

★★★★★★★★☆☆

The Role

Role Description

I was involved in the everyday branding of all literature and communications. I ensured that the branding of all internal and external communications was consisttent and correct. I was involved in the finding a solution to any brand protection cases and legal cases/

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Rated 7/10

The job could be very challenging at times but it was also mundane and almost easy at others

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

I felt that I was an integral part of the team and that my opinion was valued and listened to.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

My manager was extremely supportive and approachable. I felt that I could speak to her if I needed any help or support

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Rated 7/10

My work schedule was very dependant on the amount of work being produced by other people. This meant that being busy worked on a peak and trough scale but I always had something to do.

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

With some tasks I was overseen and was just part of a team or helping out. However I was given projects that were solely mine and given the responsibility of completing these

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

Some of the skills that I have learnt will not be taught in a great deal on my degree programme. These were practical skills and Marketing skills that will be beneficial in all future work

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

The atmosphere was generally very positive as it was an open plan office. However near the end of my placement reshuffling of jobs took place so the atmosphere became very competitive

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

The organisation of my placement from my office was very good. However, the HR manager assigned to ITs was less well organised and I felt that I had to approach her in order to get certain things done

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Rated 7/10

There were no set courses that I was put forward for. However, the experience of simply working at Corus was a very good opportunity for trainig and development

10. What were the perks on your work placement?
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Rated 6/10

  • Company Parties/Events
  • Above 25 days holiday
11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

I would like to work for Corus again as the job was intersesting and I got on well with everyone I met. However, I would not do the same job as I felt it was too specialised and similar from day-to-day for me.

Other Information

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Rated 7/10

All the staff got on well. However, most seemed reluctant to organise events. I felt that in order to arrange anything I would have to organise it myself and then not many people would show. I felt that I had little support from my fellow student on organising events such as the staff xmas party which was supposed to be done by the three of us.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Rated 6/10

I was living in Chester so the cost of renting a flat was high seen as I was on my own (£525 a month). The cost of socialising and living was the same as a lot of places.

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

Chester is a student city so the nightlife was good if somewhat student based. There were not loads of places to go but more were cropping up

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Rated 6/10

There were a few opportunities however, these were more focused around the other sites that I would not have been able to get to
