The Role
- Role Description
Reviewing the fiscal attractiveness of countries that might be of potential for hydrocarbon exploiting in the future.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
Thoroughly enjoyed the internship given a wide range of responsibilities.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
My colleagues valued my input, were keen to know what I was doing, and attended my final presentations.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Advice was there should I need it, but the advantage of not being spoon fed is that you learn to think on your feet.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
I had work to do from the day I arrived, until the final handover period.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
I was given a whole range of projects that meant effective time management and organisational skills.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
The workplace skills will provide a sound foundation going forwards.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
There was a good atmosphere in the office, from daily banter to weekly meetings.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
It was very well organised from the induction day, to intern events, the whole placements ran very smoothly.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
The company invested both time and money into me, and in return I felt obliged to work as hard as possible to pay them back.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Subsidised Canteen
- Sports and Social Club
- Subsidised/Company Gym
- Company Parties/Events
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Future employment prospects are very appealing and I will certainly be looking to try and get onto the graduate scheme.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
There was a good social mix of interns, and we did regular events such as social events and nights out to London.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
For what the accomodation was, it was very expensive, and the area itself was quiet.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Egham was indeed very quiet, but only a train ride away from busier areas such as Richmond and Kingston.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
Outside of football matches, I found it difficult to get invovled in activities outside of work.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
I would throughly recommend the BP internship scheme. I have had a great time, with great people, and leaned a lot at the same time.
