The Role
Gained vital experience and worked on a challenging project.
They asked that i stay on longer over the summer, after my placement finished.
Felt i could always ask questions if i was unsure with anything.
Always had tasks to do but never too much. Over the course of the year i would of preferred a few more tasks that had more responsibility.
Due to being based on a very large project, i never had much responsibility, although i always helped out where i could. Also part due to my managers being very busy themselves and didn't get much time to discuss the more responsible roles.
Brilliant skills developed, very beneficial to me in the long term and are being put to good use completing my final year at University!
The Company
Shared office with 6 others so the atmosphere was always good, felt one of the project team,
Placement scheme was very good and very well structured. The only improvements would be to have more emphasis on making sure each section is completed, with arrangements within the business already in place. (eg. having a set period in each department which has already been agreed by each of the different departments.)
Attended lots of training courses which helped me develop. Would of welcomed the opportunity to be a first aider, and will ask to be put on a course should i be employed by the company once i graduate.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
I have not been offered a job as of yet, but would love the opportunity to work for the company once i have graduated. I am a sponsored student so the agreement for a job is dependent on a few factors which will come to light over the course of my final year.
The Culture
Didn't see many as they were based in different regions, i was the only placement student in that year in the north west. I did meet Graduates who had experienced the situation i was in which was helpful!
The project was based at Manchester Metropolitan University so the cost was cheap student prices for meals and drinks etc. I lived at home and travel costs were covered by the company, so the cost of living was minimal.
As i lived at home i never went out after work as i commuted, however as i worked in Manchester, the nightlife was brilliant on the few occasions i went out at weekends.
Attended a few social events over the year, mainly with the site team, however had the opportunity to attend Christmas events etc. over the year.
