Role Description

I was in the UK HNW team. I supported the private bankers with their day to day jobs. This involve performing valuations of clients assets, attending meetings and writing up meeting notes. I also did some work with the team manager looking at bankers performances.

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

I often didn't have that much work to do, particularly as many of the bankers were on holiday for the summer. Since I mainly assisted the bankers I was only busy if they were and the summer is not a very busy time for private banking. As a result I frequently had to entertain myself or find other things in the office I could help with.

I feel my manager didn't support me as much as he could have done. In particular I feel he was responsible for ensuring I had enough to do when frequently he would tell me to just go and read the news for hours at a time.

I usually only had 3-4 hours of work to do a day and found it extremely difficult to find more to do when everything was so quiet during the summer.

I was given a reasonable level of responsibility. I felt that when i was given work i was left to get on with it without having someone looking over my shoulder.

The only training was very good and I ended up doing nearly every module as I had so much spare time.

The atmosphere was very fun and chilled out. There wasn't exactly a buzz but people seemed to enjoy their work.

A lot of effort seemed to have gone into trying to make the internship as busy and rewarding as possible. The intern projects we did kept me busy during much of my spare time during the day. We also had a lot of events together as interns.
