The Role
- Role Description
Writing brittle fracture reports for vessels and heat exchangers. (mechanical engineering).
Developing excel spreadsheets about section properties, machine foundations, welded plate patch repairs (civil engineering).- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

Very interesting assignments. Results that will be used in the company.
Great social life after work, stimulated by the company. - 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

Always people around to ask questions and help if necessary. The colleagues are always eager to help.

Perfect support and guidance.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

The supervisor will try to keep you busy but in the end you decide your own work.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

I've learned a great deal about general structure in a international company.
The team/social skills that where stimulated will surely help me in the future.
A knowledge expansion is always good.

Always time for a chat, laugh or work.

No comments about the organization. From start to end very good organized.

They invested in our knowledge, team and social skills. Simulated sports and independent working abilities.

Unclear at the moment. But I rate the chances of each student rather great.

- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

Perfect
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

Fear. But the highest but not the cheapest, in terms of living.
We got our own social budget from the company to stimulate social activities which also kept costs low. - 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Lots of places to go out in Southampton and lots of different possibilities.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
A dozen different sport activities, a gym, people came together to do all kinds of things.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

I had the chance to do it again, I would not doubt.
