The Role
At times is was extremely difficult, but overall the people I met, skills I learnt and general good times have left me wanting to go back.
I was instantly praised whether I improved slightly or by a huge amount, constantly reminded that I was integral in the entire company's success, not just an anonymous fundraiser.
Constant support, not just with the job but emotionally throughout the entire programme: from other fundraisers, regional management and top management, which I think is absolutely crucial in such an intense internship.
Definitely busy all the time, in some cases it felt too busy at the time but in the end in all pays off.
Being a team leader, I was given enough responsibility to feel I was a crucial member of the region but still feeling I had enough time to concentrate on my own performance.
Ever skill and piece of training I learnt, from communication skills, goal setting, time management and even just in confidence has been of huge value to my career beyond University.
The Company
Actually on the job, it hugely differed between the checking the clock ever five minutes from boredom to the time flying by because of the interesting people I met and success I had. It is entirely dependent on your attitude.
Considering the amount of organisation needed, overall it went smoothly. There were however a few mishaps in terms of organising houses and cars without provided a reasonable amount of inconvenience over the programme.
Champions has given me the opportunity to grow in flourish in so many ways, from personal improvement and promotion and have given me an arena to prove myself which I would never have experienced otherwise.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
There is definitely the potential to grow within the company if are successful and show the right attitude.
The Culture
You live and work with your team and region all day everyday for the entire Summer. I think it is virtually impossible not to make life long friends. Although few, our days off and nights out have been some of the best in my life, and that's saying something considering University.
Northampton was generally as reasonably cheap area. However, expenses of rent, petrol and food easily ate away into my weekly salary and didn't leave me with a lot.
The Northampton nightlife wasn't the best ever, but being with your region and having a good time definitely made the night, not location.
To be successful in Champions it was made clear that while we had the opportunity to do outside activities e.g. go home for a few days, to get to the best out the experience it is far more beneficial to be committed.
