    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed my placement year immensely, it’s rare to find a role that lets you learn and grow at the same time as treating you like a valued member of staff. The work you would be involved in is always challenging and exciting and differs constantly so you gain a wide range of understanding in a fast paced marketing environment.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As I have worked in a very small team I have always felt the work I do is valued, within this role you get the opportunity to work with lots of different teams within the HQ but also within the wider world. This means that you get lots of feedback from different people and feel that you are part of larger team that appreciates your work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager this year has been excellent, if you want a placement that will give you guidance, support, responsibility and tailor the job to your skills then this role is perfect. This is largely down to the manager you will have who is brilliant at finding a balance of all of the above aspects, given that you are a hard worker and are willing to learn.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always have work to do – which was always a positive thing. Depending on the time of year and how much support other teams or colleagues need does change your work load, however it is never an unmanageable amount.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility from the start. This has always been a positive endeavour as it has made me feel like a valued member of the team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed a lot of skills since working at Avis that I can take back to university – particularly a better work ethic and invaluable skills such as presenting, communicating on a more professional level and learning new data systems.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone is friendly and welcoming and you get to feel like a valued member of the whole organisation. The atmosphere in the office day to day is busy and professional but relaxed as well.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. Avis have had placement students for some years now so know what to do/how to organise etc. The manager that you will have under this marketing placement is excellent and is a major benefit of taking the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are many opportunities to learn about other parts of the business and work with them on projects, there is also the chance for you to go to lectures etc. internally which helps you learn about different areas of business, which is invaluable information you can take back to university and take on with you into further roles. This role has allowed me to grow my design skills, as this has been a passion of mine for a while, which has made me happier and more content in my role.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would happily work within the HQ again as it has a been a very rewarding experience.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are 7 student placements in total at Avis and many younger members of staff – whilst Avis does organise some social events, there are opportunities for you to ‘make your own fun’

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Average for the south of England. The HR team at Avis sends out an email with the other students contacts so there are opportunities for you to live together to bring down the costs.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Reading (20 mins away from Bracknell) has a good nightlife as does Windsor which is not far away either.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • You receive "sport and social" emails giving offers, discounts and other opportunities.
