Company Sector
Job Title: Fundraiser
Overall Rated 2.9
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The Role
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
The job is boring, you have a few good days where everything goes to plan. They put so much importance on not being 'negative', such as saying 'I am sick' isn't allowed as it would have a negative effect on the team. Expect to hear the words 'negative' 'clang' on a regular basis by individuals who wouldn't be able to get a high paid job anywhere so they stay within the company.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
[this section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] Can't talk about anyone in the team, good or bad.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Training every few days, again by people you will not like or get along with,
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
7 hours during the week, 9 hours at weekend = 7 days a week. I had 3 days off during the whole summer....They advertise it as 'you work your own hours'. This isn't true, if you don't work these hours, you get in trouble, might get asked to leave.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
Please leave a comment on this question...
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
They believe selling is everything. Sell yourself in an interview-yes. Once in a job, not really because not all of us want to spend all the time selling charity, working in recruitment.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
'banter'. Basically guys who think they are complete 'lads'. [this section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
House= Council Estate. Training = Who knows when that will happen.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
training, free holiday and bonus. Basically your weekly pay will be spent on food, house, travel. Bonus is where you make money, only way you will make money from this is if you are good at selling.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Financial Bonus
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
I could work with them if i wanted but why would I want to work in recruitment? Realtor? I want to work in a law firm.
Plus you have to spend at least 2 summers doing this internship....No thank you.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
2 nights out during the whole internship.....
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Food/Car travel/Constant takeaways because everyone is to lazy to cook.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Reasonable, could of been better.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
None. You can't meet friends, family. Literally, they tell you off for not spending time with your team and going to meet your gf for the first time in 6 weeks.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Think twice before working here.

Employer’s Response To This Review
We encourage all feedback and are pleased that this site offers those unfortunate few individuals that haven’t valued their experience with Champions Life Academy, a platform also. It is regrettable that the reviewer on this occasion gained a place on the internship without fundamentally placing value on sales skills nor recognised the relevance of learning the ability to communicate effectively, handle rejection, set goals and work long hours are all attributes that a future employer will probably look for when recruiting a graduate. Indeed, the time commitment to the role over the summer is made absolutely clear to all applicants during the hour long information presentation held on campus during our recruitment drive.
If the quality of nightlife is an influential factor when determining your summer career choice, we’d recommend you apply elsewhere. This programme is not for the faint hearted, days off are seldom, free time is not in abundance. The management team is an equal mix of guys and girls from Universities all over the UK- it’s unfortunate that the reviewer seemingly didn’t get on with anyone, didn’t think much of fellow housemates’ culinary skills, nor felt happy living in a house in the vicinity of council houses. Again, should those factors be of relevance to you upon considering an internship, this probably isn’t for you. The full time team is made up of highly capable individuals, with two making selection for the Microsoft undergraduate and graduate programmes for example.
As this forum demonstrates, for the overwhelming majority, Champions Life Academy has provided an experience of high value and our industry awards, including RMP’s ‘Most Distinctive Contribution to Workplace’ support this. Quite simply if you are looking for conventional summer work experience, with plenty of free time to embark on lots of activities around your job, then we strongly recommend you take heed of this reviewer’s advice and please ‘think twice’ about applying. Places are limited and with record applicants this year, we are only looking for candidates who are keen to push themselves in a new environment and make productive use of their summer.
