1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

I loved it, on the 2nd day we were invited to the annual summer ball which was at the Kensington roof gardens! There are so many events, parties and lunches, All of which is part of the networking that is required in media. This has to be the most fun work can actually be.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

The best part of my internship, was that i was made to feel like a valued member of my team, not once did I ever feel like I was not a full member of the group. My manager took me under her wing, and taught me everything she knew.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

My team supported me fully!
I asked a million and one questions a day and they were pleased to answer questions and show me how to do anything i struggled with.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

I was never too busy, just enough work to keep me on my toes. I also received a great deal of training and learning the amount of work it takes to survive and flourish in the industry left me busy a great deal. But now I am a full fledged member of staff, I am now very busy, and find my self working into lunch sometimes; which I don't mind because this industry is all about working hard and playing harder!

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

I was trusted with a great deal of experience. Much more than I expected.
I was invited to sit in on important meetings which involved business making decisions, of which one of my ideas have been used.
I was tasked with the responsibility of making agency contacts, presenting, pitching and tackling briefs. all with the help and supervision of my team.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

Negotiation, objection handling, presenting, pitching, communication, relationship building, organisation, time management, project management, the list is endless! The skills I gained can be transferred and adapted to any job, and I will utilise them throughout my career.

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

Work hard play harder; Except when were closing the month then its all heads down but as soon as it hits 5.30 its off to the pub for a celebratory drink!

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

At first there were a few bumps as it was the 1st time an internship programme was run at Dennis but all feed back was taken on board and dealt with immediately. My manager personally set up a training programme for me which ran smoothly and integrated me into the role perfectly.

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

I have a variety of skills which I have been able to use. One of which is design, I was even given a mac to help redesign presenters and media packs that went out to clients. I was given a client list, and allowed to manage business with them, all of which is a risk with an intern, but my team believed in and trusted me enough to allow me to do so.

10. What were the perks on your work placement?
★★★★★★★★☆☆

Rated 8/10

  • Company Parties/Events
11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

I am now a permanent member of staff on the digital lifestyle team. I even have my own London agency patch. Luckily where I have entered has shaved about 2 years off my career, so I am ahead of the game!

Other Information

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

We were all very close. occasionally celebrating out together.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆

Rated 4/10

as it is in central London (medialand) it can be quite pricey. However there are loads of little cheap cafes and pubs around. And its a short walk to westend where everyone is out socialising.

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

loads of bars, pubs and clubs. Dennis has loads of events as well all of which included loads of free drinks and food, and even an end of programme trip to brussells!

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Rated 7/10

All the Dennis events we are invited to, including, the Den of Geek pub quiz, Bizarre ball, and Halloween party. We were also invited to events at other media agencies such as poker nights and model boxing matches.

In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

Its a great place to work. Most of the staff have been here for 10yrs+ and the ones who leave tend to come back
Dennis is great at investing in their staff and training us up to their standards. A great place to be!
