The Role

Role Description

My ten week internship was with the property side of the business. I attended meetings alongside my team and completed an individual project. This was designed to add value to the team's and assist in understanding of the global property market. Additionally all interns took part in a trading game, running a mock portfolio of $50m. By the end of the placement I had a strong understanding of the day to day workings of the team, the nature of a job in portfolio management, the type of work involved and the strategy of the firm as a whole.

The company organised lunch and learn sessions, intern outings and a buddy and a mentor system. These all ensured that interns got the most out of their experience.

I would highly recommend a placement with BlackRock. It is a rewarding, educational, interesting place to work. The internships are well organised and the people are extremely keen to help younger team members get involved.
