The Role
- Role Description
-supporting the Regional Fashion and Home Operations/Design Team
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
I really enjoyed my Creative placement at the Walt Disney Company. I found that my colleagues were really friendly, I had the opportunity to get involved in many different projects and learnt a lot about a corporate business.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt like an integral member of the team, and had daily tasks and responsibilities to support the team.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
I had weekly one-to-ones with my manager, where we discussed project process and personal development.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
It varied at different points throughout the year. At times where we had important events approaching, my work load increased.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
If you show that you relish responsibility, work hard, and enjoying taking part in as many projects as possible, you will be given more responsibility.
You have to be prepared to put yourself forward and use your initiative. - 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I developed my team-working, communication, organisation and time-keeping skills. After the training I received, I now feel comfortable working in a corporate organisation, and have built a network of contacts that I can rely upon for the rest of my career.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Very well organised due to the number of interns Disney employs every year.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
I was able to attend the Disney University and any basic training my manager thought was suitable.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Staff Sales/Staff Shop
- Healthcare/Dental
- Travel loan
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Jobs weren't really offered on the spot, but it provides a great advantage over other candidates if applying in the future.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Lots of social events organised.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
London is expensive. Over £150 a week for rent. However the placement wage covered it, with spare each month.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
A few bars in Hammersmith but better if you head into central London.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
Opportunity to get involved in community/charity affairs with Disney Voluntears.

Placement Year Questions & Answers
-
Hey,
I have an AC coming up for Disney next week. Can you tell me what kind of preparations I need to do and any expectations. Would really appreciate your advice. Look forward to hearing from you.
Thank You

Hi Henito,
I actually didn't have to attend an AC for my position, so I'm not entirely sure what the structure is. However I have done AC's in the past, and I would say that it's important to make sure you demonstrate teamwork, include others, are confident, and most importantly, that you be yourself. There is also some great advice online. I had 2 interviews for my place at Disney, and I think it was most important that I had the ability to fit into the team, had demonstrated relevant skills through past experience, and was passionate about the company.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
