Job Title: Fundraising Intern
Overall Rated 8.7
★★★★★★★★★☆
The Role
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
I really enjoyed this internship - I was able to become involved in a sector I hadn't yet experienced. Although I was initially unsure about working in fundraising I really enjoyed this placement, and it's persuaded me to now persue a career in fundraising.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt very valued - I was often given tasks for which I was solely responsible and always recieved praise for my achievements. It was very easy to fit in at this office - a very friendly environment to work in!
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
The intership was fairly self directed and I was given constant support and guidance from the managers when I needed it.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
There were always tasks to do/follow up so I was never short of things to do, although some tasks could be slow/time consuming.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
Many of the task I did I was solely responsible for, and would say I was given a large amount of responsibility. Managers were always willing to help/check over work if necessary.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I have gained really valuable skills here, and this was especially apparent when I was offered a paid job in a similar role by another charity. It has clearly shown that the skills I have gained here are good enough to help me make the first step in a fundraising career.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Ver friendly and laid back - somewhere where you could look forward to coming to work!
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Ver well organised - large focus on self direction so the team were well prepared to let me focus on specific areas if I wanted to.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- There were no perks with this placement
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Job prospects look very appealing, but there are very few of them. I was able to find work with a different charity in this location.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
