Job Title: Actuarial Consultant

Overall Rated 9.4

★★★★★★★★★

The Role

Role Description

Pensions consulting

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

My placement was really well organised and ensured that I had an interesting variety of work and was always kept busy. I was given opportunities to witness tasks that I would be involved in later in my career as well as day to day graduate tasks.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

My colleagues really went out of their way to make sure that all of the interns settled in well. From bacon butty rounds to after work drinks, we were really made to feel at home. Colleagues were always grateful for the work that I did, even when it did take a bit longer than expected.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

I was given a great deal of support by all of my colleagues. I always felt comfortable to ask questions and everyone was willing to take time to help with any work queries. I had the opportunity to work with people at all stages of their careers and was offered useful career advice whenever I asked for it.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

Workload varied from day to day but that just added interest. Colleagues would always ask about your workload before giving me a big task and as long as I time managed effectively I always managed to leave the office on time.

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

Rated 6/10

I was responsible for managing my own workload and making sure that I asked for work if I had some spare time. Interns have to manage the intern project by themselves; arranging conference calls and delegating work etc. Opportunities such as sitting in on conference calls, taking minutes and attending meetings are allresponsibilities that I experienced as an Intern.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

From my internship I learnt first hand which skills I need to develop and where I can improve. I also found that the transition from university to work will not be as intimidating as I first expected.

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

As a company Towers Watson invest entirely in making sure that it's employees reach their full potential. All travel and accommodation expenses were paid and graduates have a great study package when studying for their actuarial exams.
