The Role
- Role Description
My main tasks were research in to a specific topic relating to the industry sector of Oil and Gas (primarily upstream) and helping to compile a piece of company thought leadership.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
I learnt a huge amount through this work, and felt I was making a contribution.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt that my contribution was appreciated, and that my work was valued.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Being in a virtual team was difficulty to begin with, but at Accenture, it is handled well and the equipment is excellent.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Peaks and troughs in the work, but tended to strike a good enough balance.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
I was responsible for my work and reporting to the other memebers of the team, as well as providing recommended reading.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
My research skills have greatly improved, and I have the ability to talk about a topic that I once knew very little about, in very great detail.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Helpful, and extremely sociable, but with excellent work ethic.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Structured and long standing programme.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
We were put through a one day excel training course.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Flexi Time
- Working from home
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Excellent company, with a real focus on performance recognition.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Everyone banded together to create a great social atmosphere.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Central London. Need I say more.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Great, but expensive.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
Accenture is excellent at allowing the set up and running of clubs and societies.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Highly recommended, and intern experiences very greatly, so talk to other interns!
