The Role
- Role Description
Working in a specific department for three works, doing research and helping to prepare cases for court.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
The work was genuine trainee work, which meant that my role was valued by lawyers and secretaries throughout the firm.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt like I fitted in immediately. The people at Nabarro make you feel welcome from the outset, and have a real respect for your skills and your input.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
The Recruitment team was always on call to help, and did so with a smile. The supervisors were always keen to help and wanted to make sure we got the most out of the placement.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
I was constantly busy, and if the work was slightly lacking then I was able to ask my supervisor for work and there was always more to do. My enthusiasm was met with gratitude.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
I was given more responsibility than I expected, and was sent away to do proper work and research that had effects on the wider work of the firm. I was left to my own devices, but always had help when I needed it.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
The skills were extremely valuable, and have helped me in my later legal career.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
The staff in the office work hard but also play hard. The socials were great, and they clearly value the importance of taking breaks from work.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
The Grad Recruitment team were amazing, and I was really impressed with their ability to organise so many people in such a short space of time!
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
The firm invested in me enormously, and is still investing. They work very hard to make sure you get the most out of the placement and in return they get a lot out of you.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Company Parties/Events
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
They offered me a Training Contract, which I was very happy to accept.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
The staff were always keen to get us down to the pub, which will always be a good thing in my book.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Holborn is quite expensive, but the money from the firm is good.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Sam Smith's pubs are always handy!
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
I worked in pro bono and also played cricket for the firm. Thoroughly enjoyable.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Nabarro is a fantastic firm and anyone interested in a legal degree should apply.
