The same job as audit graduates. Performing tests to check the financial statements match to the actual accounts. Normally done by taking samples.

It was very well organised. There is a dedicated team and the placement has been running for a long time so it is like a well oiled machine.

I definitely made some friends for life: during the dark times of busy season there is definitely a strong sense of cameraderie.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

London is obviously a very exensive area, but Deloitte often subsidises drinks. Accomodation is very expensive and I would reccomend packed lunch unless you want to spend 7 or 8 pounds a day.

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

Pretty good, the most favoured place of my department was K box - a karaoke bar. Fabric is just down the road. although I doubt too many company expeditions have ended up there.

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

Yeah lots, I played hockey a couple of times for Deloitte and I went to a paintballing event. I also ran the London Marathon through Deloitte which was probably the highlight of my time there.

In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

I would advise you to take this opportunity. Some people on the scheme love their departments. Personally, I found audit was not for me. But I wouldn't regret doing the scheme because I really enjoyed Deloitte as a whole and I would definitely consider other departments (We get the chance to work in other departments during the holidays). Also, directly through the scheme I got a place at the University I always wanted to go to, I got to go travelling for 4 months and learnt to speak spanish and I got to run the London Marathon which is something I've always wanted to do. I cannot reccomend this scheme enough because even if you end up doing a job that doesn't suit you, you will learn a lot about yourself and be able to make a better choice when it comes to a graduate job - which you will be doing for a lot longer than 7 months!
