Job Title: Assistant Marketing Manager, Brand, Community
Overall Rated 6.9
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
The Role
- Role Description
I am responsible for:
- arranging, and promoting volunteering events.
- assisting to deliver the communityforce program.
- dealing with community inquires.- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
The job is really interesting, especially when I am given the task of going and getting something done that I know little about.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I feel like my colleagues want to help me out and are willing to give me autonomy as well.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
The support has been fantastic, whether its been tips given over a coffee or a formal chat about what to do.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
I would have liked to have been given more work from another side of the team.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
My responsibility level is probably about right, considering I am new in the role. However, I would relish a little more.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
Skills I have picked up from doing training courses and learning on the job have been outstanding. I came into the placement as a student, I now feel like a productive employee.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
The atmosphere is great, a very fun place to work.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
The work has method behind it, but sometimes trying to identify the method is challenging. Once the sleeves are rolled up its all on easy street however.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
The level of time and resources dedicated to my development has been unrivalled. I have been allowed to attend training courses, training days, and been given time to work on studying towards professional qualifications.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Company Parties/Events
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
Senior managers appear really receptive to the possibility of working within their team in the near future.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Most of the fellow graduates are ready and willing to arrange nights out. However, due to Gogarburn's location, nights out are tough to arrange since its not directly in the city.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Edinburgh has a rather cheap social life, with drinks being student priced and entertainment also reasonable.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Edinburgh night life is brilliant. The clubs are usually packed and the bars provide an excellent setting for a 'quieter' night.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
I have yet to get involved with anything, as I am very busy.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
This placement is a learning experience, and one that will prove beneficial in the future.
