4) surplus consideration
5) check and balances

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

It was a rewarding experience as I learnt first-hand what a financial plan really entails. I am extremely grateful that I was offered the possibility to decide where I wanted to further my expertise in.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

The working environment was really pleasant as it is a small company. From day one they treated me as part of the team and listened to my opinions and views.

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

It is always a difficult task to start in a company as the people working there might not be aware of how much workload one can take on. However, my experience was great as I was working individually with my supervisor regularly checking in. In addition, I was asked to update my process and work in a spread sheet so that my working, learning curve could be better judged by myself and my supervisor. I’ve found this very helpful.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

I would say I was given a decent amount of work but I was not overloaded with work. Nevertheless, I was told from day one that if I believe to be able to take up on more work, I should say so.

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

Actually I was surprised by the amount of responsibility I was given. I had the chance of imputing my own ideas and I valued that a lot.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

I learnt how to be organised and structured. I guess that is a crucial skill to have. As it is similar to my studies, I already realised that the sometimes seemingly dry financial courses from University are so much more interesting as I actually now know why these things need to be considered in the real world.

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

The office environment can be described as warm and friendly. Every morning, we would all start with an-over coffee meeting with what to expect of the day.

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

During my interview I was already asked where I would like to set my emphasis on if I get the internship. This was very helpful as I could focus on parts I wanted to improve. During the internships, I was able to improve whilst always following an assigned schedule. Overall, I would say it was set up with a love for detail and structure.

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

I never felt as if I was “only” an intern. From day one, I felt like I was part of the team as I was given real tasks and included in general discussions and meetings.

10. What were the perks on your work placement?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

  • Flexi Time
  • Company Parties/Events
11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

It seems like a goal to strive for. Unfortunately, I still have to finish my University studies but I am sure that I will consider them or hopefully they me once I finish my studies.

Other Information

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

Yes. We all had a good time and really bonded over lunch breaks.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
★★★★★★★★★

Rated 9/10

As their office is based in central London, living expenses really depend on where you live. As I live in a student accommodation from my University, I guess my situation was different than for those who are not currently enrolled at University. In regards to socialising, it really depends on what you like and how you decide to spend your money.

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

London’s nightlife is as any capital city’s one really vibrant. There is always something to do for any pocket size.

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
★★★★★★★★★★

Rated 10/10

We always had some nice company dinners. These were real nice opportunities for bonding and getting to know the rest outside of the office.

In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

CRCC Asia is definitely a company to be reckoned with. It is not only great for internal internship but from what I experienced throughout the time there, they really strive for giving the best service for those wanting to go on an internship abroad to China. I am currently considering this option for a future internship as I value CRCC Asia and the effort they put in to make any experience a personalised and successful one.
