Overall Rated 8.1
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The Role
- Role Description
Support the consultants in their daily tasks and research projects, prepare presentations for the company, training for outside training delegates, general admin, investigate new technology and prepare reports for consultants to use in their in-house work.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
I loved the freedom of the job and that I was well respected and treated as a member of the team, not just an intern, from day one.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
I felt incredibly valued. The consultants were keen to consider us members of their team and not just someone to do extra work for them.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
I was left to my own devices often during my time, however my supervisors/consultants always offered me guidance on projects and tasks I had completed for them. It was the right balance of freedom and assistance.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
There is always something to do.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
I was given an incredible amount of responsibility from day one. I enjoyed feeling valued. I often had to prepare large presentations to show all the company and this really made me feel valued from my first week.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
The skills I learnt and connections I made during my short six weeks will definitely help me further my career in marketing.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Lots of fun stuff going on, everyone was very friendly. Free beer, cola and wine after 6pm (or 4.30pm on Fridays). Free sweets too! And a work paid meal out once a month, whole office lunch every Friday.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Well organised with intern presentations from the start, they take on a lot of interns so although there is no strict programme, interns are well catered for.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
I was offered free training sessions such as public speaking and excel advanced techniques which really helped me get the most out of my time, along side my other work.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- There were no perks with this internship
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Lucnh every friday with the whole office, regular lunches out with the rest of the intern teams, and a free paid lunch once a month. Confluences on Friday afternoons were always really enjoyable.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Right in the city!
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
