The members of my department were extremely happy with the work that I completed for the department. My colleagues made me feel like I had made a real difference during my time there.

My manager mostly left me to my own devices but I felt comfortable to approach both my manager and buddy if I had any questions. My first week I would have liked a little more support but understand my manager was testing me by throwing me in at the deep end.

I was not given any day to day tasks and the work I completed was entirely on my own projects and projects for the department. At times I found myself reliant on others for the information I needed and sometimes found it difficult to get the time I needed to speak to individuals as everyone is extremely busy. Due to this there was times where I couldn't move forward with any of my work.

I was given some big responsibilities with some of the projects that I was involved in and it was very good to lend a hand in something that was going to make a real and lasting difference to both my department and the company. Having some day to day tasks would have been a good addition though so that I could help take some of the workload off of my team.

The most valuable skills that I built on during my time at Barclay's were soft skills. Particularly, I strengthened my time management, people management and project management skills.

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

At times everyone was too focused on completing their work to take part in any activities or chat. However, I had a few nights out with the members of my office which was a good opportunity to get to know everyone a little better. I also got involved in some activities within the office such as charity events.

My internship was very well structured and my manager had already set up my tasks before I had started. I attended various learning sessions during my 10 weeks, these sessions gave various information about the company, departments and the type of individual that Barclay's would look to hire.

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

My first week consisted on an initial training programme, which involved financial products. Also I had to complete 20 hours of online tuition prior to my start date. As mentioned above I also attended various other development sessions over my 10 weeks.
