It was very good as i got to do numerous activities which I cannot do during my time at university.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

my team made me feel very welcomed and appreciated me being there helping them.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

Whenever I needed help i could seek advice from my colleagues. they also ensured that i met my objectives as set out during my first week in my placement.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

on a day to day basis i would have enough to keep me busy during the day, it was paced adequately.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

I was able to arrange meetings on site on separate occasions with the designer and the subcontractor. I was responsible for raising documentation and making sure that items were actioned.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

This project has allowed me to engage with some of the activities that engineers undertake on a day-to-day basis. It has allowed me to build on my existing knowledge and skills that could be adapted for use at university and once I graduate.

- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

The atmosphere was very friendly, I was able to talk to other members working on the project
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

very well organised, i was supplied with all the relevant information to make sure my first day went smoothly. Also, Costain had set up performance reviews to be done throughout the placement, this was useful to 'measure' your performance.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

Costain had set up performance reviews to be done throughout the placement, this was useful to 'measure' your performance. This made sure that I made the most out of my placement.

- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

Upon graudating, Costain has a graduate scheme to help with further developing the skills of graduates offering them training courses etc. this appeals to me as I know that Costain will continue to support my development upon graduating.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
I would go out for lunch with fellow placement students and graduate engineers working on the project. As well as this, every few weeks there would be a social event where everyone working on the project would attend.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
London is an area which is expensive to socialise in. I lived with family so living expenses were low.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Night life near where I was working was really good, with a variety of things to do.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
There were regular social activities amongst the office staff, where we would discuss things which were not work related.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

Defiantly get involved in a summer placement, as it really helps with when studying.
