I’ve been working in an extremely knowledgeable group who went out of their way to support me and my work. I was included in meetings and in department discussions.

If anything I was provided with more support for my personal development than to deliver for the company. My superiors always had time to spare to answer any questions I may have. I also had a personal mentor for the duration of my placement who helped me with career guidance.

It was up to me. There was always more work available should I ask, however I was set a large project that I was not expected to complete so there were no times when I could say I had nothing to do.

I was given large amounts of responsibility, in my opinion. I was allowed access and contributed to actual projects. Also the course I am working on is going to be shown to large numbers of people so it was an important task.

I learnt a lot of material that is directly transferable to my degree. I really feel that I will perform better in my studies after having this experience.

I had a really good group of people surrounding me but in other parts of the office it was very quiet.

Almost perfect, except my security clearance came through very late which limited my project access. They should possibly start the recruitment process earlier to account for this.

I didn't go on any training courses because they weren't necessary but they developed my technical skills.

I would really like to work for MBDA because the work is interesting and the people are friendly. However, the money is not great and career progression within the organisation can be slow.

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

Yes. Frequent nights out and played sport with the other interns. Not much was organised by the company though so its up to the interns, which is probably better.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

Not a great selection but the couple of bars that are in Stevenage are good fun. Go on a weeknight and the drinks are cheap.

Difficult to get involved in the company activities because the intership is only 3 months. Instead we organised our own

In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

There wasn't much pressure on me and there wasn't much expected of me. Personally, I would prefer a more pressured environment with more deadlines.
