The Role
- Role Description
The charity required a simple and effective system to organize their knowledge base. The system had to be simple to use and reliable as well as it had to have good search engine and categorization tools.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
The job involved a lot of creativity and allowed me to develop my skills. I was given a lot of freedom to go with my own ideas.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
Others in the charity listened to my ideas and valued my input.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
I was given a task and was left pretty much to myself. They spend time reviewing my work, but didn't guide me as such.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
I was fairly busy.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
It was my project and I was entirely responsible for it.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I am confident that the new skills I developed will be of use during my professional career
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Coworkers were friendly but the atmosphere in the office was very business-like.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
My work area and the general setting was prepared but the placement wasn't really structured in any clear way.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
I was sent to 2 seminars during my placement
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Company Parties/Events
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
I got a contract with the charity and I think it gives me good prospects for the future.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
There was one other student but there was no possibility or time for social contacts.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
London is expensive, that is sort of a given.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
What sort of question is that? Is it a job placement rating or student camp rating?
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
Work for Tourettes Action was very rewarding and Shell Step program is a great opportunity to get some professional experience.
