This isn't shadowing someone for 10 weeks , you get a real project to do and Nestle actually value your findings. It is a great experience learning so many life and business skill in addition to gaining a real insight into what business is really like.

Colleagues just treat you as another intern, as there are so few interns. Everybody was so helpful to me but this help was reciprocal. Colleagues actively came to me for my opinion and advice on certain topics

You are appointed a line manager as a mentor, but everybody else supports you whereever they can.

Depending on the nature project some days you may be rushed of your feet but other days you had less to do. There is a strong team spirit, with plenty of banter and socialising.

I had to manage a merger group through my placement, this involved chasing senior managment up to make sure deadline where meet. Also you are given a complete free rain with your project to do it how you please.

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

There are training course at the start and at midpoint of the placement, teaching selling skills, presentation skills, and a final apprasial. The apprasial point out all you strenghts but also where there is room to develop, and how to develop those skills.

Hotel and meal were arrange when you first arrive for the induction. Its good that each intern has their own line manager so if any problems you can speak to them whenever.

Over the 10 weeks there was nearly a week in total dedicating to developing your personal skills

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

There were only 4 interns in Croydon and another 2 in York, we went out for drinks most weeks and clubs some weeks. Usually always ate lunch together.

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

Rated 8/10

Croydon is cheaper than London, but when your out with people from work, they always buy you drinks so I hardly spent anything scoialising. Nestle also subsidise any rent, paying 75% of the cost if you arrange you accommadtion through the company.

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

The bar opposite the office was the local which most people went to, but also nights out in London and York.

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

Went on away days and corperate events which were great fun.

In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?

I couldn't recommend this scheme enough to anybody, even though it is a "Sales" internship the job is so diverse, it is a greater experience for anybody who wants to work in business.
