Job Title: CBFA Resilience Researcher
Overall Rated 7.6

The Role
- Role Description
Conducted research in order to assess where the greatest levels of need were for community based first aid training in the Cheshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas, then to produce a document detailing the demography and greatest needs of this area along with a list of recommendations for the Red Cross to take.
- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
Very enjoyable. Wish I could do it for a living.
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
Was made to feel really welcome, and definitely felt part of the British Red Cross during my time there.
- 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
-
Was given a lot of guidance at the start and with regards to certain aspects of the research, such as interviews - but was mostly given a lot of independence to conduct research.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Sometimes it would take up several full days a week, and other times it would only be around 1 day a week.
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
Felt very in control over where I could direct research and to what recommendations I could produce.
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
Skills were put to great use, and I know it will definitely help me in the future.
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Did not spend much time in the office, but the time I did was very friendly and welcome.
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
There was a bit of confusion at the start of the internship, but this was soon sorted out.
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
Felt a great deal was invested in me, and I definitely benefited from the internship as well.
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Working from home
- 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
-
If I could do the internship for a living, I would be over the moon.
Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
All the colleagues got on very well, and all enjoyed working there.
- 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
-
Neither expensive nor cheap. Average really.
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Great. Though my finances dictated this more than anything.
- 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
-
The British Red Cross does a great deal of volunteer work, of which I already do anyway as a first aider. Great fun.
- In addition to these questions, is there any extra information you would like to leave about your experiences on your work placement that other students may be interested in?
-
To anybody interested in working with the Red Cross, I simply cannot recommend it enough. Go and help people! Even if its just volunteering, you won't regret it.
