The Role
- Role Description
Working in the Channel Distribution Team for EMEA region.
• Managing comms with DBM (distributor business managers) QuickLink – weekly newsletter - personal initiative
• Training SharePoint for Intel Field - the key repository for the training materials that Intel Field can use when engaging with their customers. My main role is ensuring the relevance of the content, working with US on the new content, reviewing field needs and responding to their requests (I’ve also created this repository)
•New distributor programme sales analysis – working across several teams to ensure consistency in ROI measurement. Preparing key indicators reports based on analysis of large volumes of data from different sources.
• Reporting – project on ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Redesigning reporting templates and working with other teams to ensure that our systems process customer SO data correctly.
• Job+ / Volunteering: working with external marketing agencies on creating joint marketing campaign with UK retailers and Intel (not part of my role but something I took on as extra in order to gain experience in consumer marketing)
• All mentioned above is ongoing process so is a part of my routine. Apart from that there are also adhoc requests for certain reports, translation at the events, customer meetings, etc.- 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
-
It has been a great experience all around: big and dynamic company who is the leader in the industry; great exposure to international business; interesting department to work for; many new projects and exciting changes. Big reliance on self motivation and ability to schedule your own work; travel and training opportunities
- 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
-
Very friendly team and culture in the company in general. My collegues recgnised the value in the work I was doing which has been very envcouraging.

-
Excellent manager. I had regular meetings with open discussions and could always get a helpful advice career wise.
- 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
-
Different every week but ususally busier at the end of quarter. Weeks were different as well depending on the project. Having finished my core responsibilities I was able to volunteer / job shadow in other departments and chose projetcs I wanted to work on
- 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
-
Was trusted to produce reports that drove multi thousand dollar payments; was fully responsible for the projetcs and ideas that I came up with
- 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
-
I was given an opportunity to complete any courses I felt I needed to excel in my job (Microsoft Excel/Powerpoin advanced training; MIcrosoft MOSS, presentation skils, etc.)
The Organisation
- 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
-
Professional but fun
- 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
-
Well organised but also reliant on your own initiative
- 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
-
Considering it is an internship - was pretty good
- 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
-
- Subsidised Canteen
- Sports and Social Club
- Subsidised/Company Gym

Other Information
- 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
-
Nice social scene

-
Living costs are cheap but not much of a social scene in the area. London and Bristol are very close though
- 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
-
Depends on personal taste. In Swindon you can still have a great night if you are with the right people. But places with better night life (London, Reading, Bristol) are in easy reach

-
A lot of sport clubs / activities so great opportunity to meet other people from the company
