I was assigned different companies to research and evaluate. I was given considerable freedom in my approach but guidance when nesscessary. I also generally had to keep up to date on global events. My research culminated in writing reports on the companies I was assigned.

I was given far more responsibility than I ever imagined I would. This included contacting external resources and presenting my reports to both my team and the entire investment floor.

The Organisation

The office was quite quiet. I found I got used to it and it allowed me to focus on work but that's not to say that people never talked.

It was extremely well organised we were given some basic training in the first few days and then sent to our investment teams - who organised what we did. We also recieved further weekly training and information meetings from various colleagues.

Edinburgh has a great social scene and making the most of it depends on how active you want to be. I found that the social scene was quiet at the start of the placement but picked up significantly towards the end (especially as the festival began).
