Role Description

Provide onsite support of IT clients to employees of the company. This includes laptops, desktops, network printers and the software associated with them.

The role includes training users on Windows platforms and communicating customer service performance metrics to management.

Really enjoyed it - challenging at times, especially when dealing with acquisitions, but this was all part and parcel of learning.

Full time employees really value both their full time employees and contractors. Sometimes, the relationship between contractors and myself did feel undervalued. Management did recognise this, and acted accordingly.

Being customer facing, the majority of the work depends on whether we have customers (other employees) that require support. If no one has an issue with something that is IT supported, then work could be a little thin. During the busy times though, we were stretched to capcity, however coping was manageable.

I was given a lot of responsability, including reporting on performance metrics for my department in EMEA to management and providing training in numerous different countries to newly acquired employees.

The skills I have learned here are mostly transferable and so I can apply them to my course.
