The Role
I was encouraged to express my opinion from the first day on.
Whenever I was given a piece of work, my colleagues took time to explain everything that was unclear to me. I was also never afraid to come back with more questions when I got stuck because there was always someone willing to help.
There were a couple of occasions when I had little to do, but they were rare and I used this time to get through some additional training materials. More often, my days were quite busy. That said, my workload depended mainly on how much I decided to take on. I was encouraged to manage my time well to get everything done during the day and leave the office at five - no one expected me to work late.
The level of responsibility was high from the first day on. However, all the work I did was checked by someone else.
Most of the what I learned during my internship is very specific to the role of a benefits consultant/actuary. If I end up in a different role, I might never use some of the things I learned again. However, I also improved my IT skills (mainly spreadsheet use) and my time management. I also gained more experience with team work.

The Culture
There was only one other intern at the office, but all my colleagues made me feel very welcome. I often joined some colleagues for lunch.
I don't know because I commuted to work from a different area.
I don't really know as I don't tend to go out that much.
There was a number of events for everyone from the office and I joined in a couple of times. I also helped organize an event on one occasion together with my fellow intern.
