About Barratt Homes
As the UK’s best-known house-builder, Barratt boasts a 5,000-strong workforce and thousands more happy customers. That’s because we’re founded on a strong ethos of building quality homes, catering to every specification. And in order to continually exceed our customers’ expectations, we only employ the brightest talent – people who share our vision of creating everything from affordable to luxury properties, using the latest construction methods and always keeping an eye on environmental sustainability.
The Role
If you think that a career with Barratt is just about bricks and mortar, you’d be wrong. You’ll certainly be building with us – but you’ll be building networks, building connections and building our business. Most placements are for students studying degree subjects relevant to the built environment, but we also have marketing opportunities too.
These placements give you the opportunity to work on real projects and make a big contribution to the business. There’s a huge amount to cover, from engineering and design to site-based construction management. You’ll also learn – amongst other topics – about marketing and quantity surveying, so there’s plenty to sink your teeth into.
Starting work as a full-time employee can be daunting. So we’ve put in place an impressive support network to help you settle in. You’ll have a buddy to answer your questions, as well as a dedicated coach and regular reviews and feedback from your manager.
We’ll expect you to work hard – but we’ll also make sure you receive a competitive salary and benefits for the work and effort you put in. And of course – impress during your placement and you could be fast-tracked to one of our graduate programmes after your degree.
Entry criteria
These 12-month industrial placements are paid opportunities that will prove really valuable if you’re in your penultimate year. We primarily look for students studying the built environment (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Technology, Building Surveying or similar).
