About DAF Trucks

We have a Central Engineering Team which has two functional areas, Sales Engineering and Technical Engineering. Sales Engineering activities support customers by interpretation of their operational requirements through the provision of pre-sales engineering assistance and advice. Technical Engineering supports all aspects of the vehicle after delivery, from diagnosing and rectification of complex vehicle / system interactions, maintenance activities, legal compliance and roadworthiness. Both functions have the goal of ensuring the delivery of maximum vehicle uptime and availability.

Engineering Business Placements

We have two placements, both for twelve months duration, based in Thame, Oxfordshire. The first placement is aimed towards a under graduate student between their second and third years of study. The second placement is aimed towards a post graduate student. The roles are both full time and will commence in July 2015.

Requirements

We are looking for students who wish develop their aspirations within the heavy vehicle sector, gaining invaluable hands on experience within a dynamic environment, whilst applying their theoretical knowledge to a practical application; in addition to enhancing their academic development.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be studying or have completed a Bachelor of Engineering, with a focus on Mechanical Design
  • Have strong written and verbal skills and excellent organisational/administrative skills
  • Be competent with Microsoft Office Suite and the Windows operating systems
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Have the ability to communicate confidently and professionally at all levels
  • Good team working skills with a flexible approach
  • Previous office-based work experience preferred, but not essential
