Our Corporate Industrial Placement offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain experience with a large multinational business. You will have the opportunity to take responsibility which has an effect on the success of your department. Franchising – Industrial Placement

Job Purpose

  • To support the Franchising department in the recruitment of new franchisees, co-ordinate candidates through the recruitment process and support their training as needed.
  • To provide support to the franchising team through management of restaurant transactions, such as managing the sales process between franchisees and McDonald’s.
  • To build McDonald’s franchising reputation by supporting external activities, regularly reviewing the franchising website and those of third parties.

Recruitment

  • To work with members of the Franchising team to review franchisee applications and manage the online recruitment process.
  • Co-ordinate data tracking of franchisee candidates at each stage in the recruitment process, regularly communicating and building relationships with the candidates.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of all major Franchising events, such as the National Franchise Exhibition, Franchising Open Days and BFA meetings, with the opportunity to regularly present to members of the public.
  • To manage the Franchising recruitment and reputation calendar, recording all key events such as Open Days, exhibitions and franchising marketing campaigns.
  • To manage the compilation and distribution of pre-read documents to the Executive team for franchisee interviews and a Recruitment and Reputation overview for McDonald’s global stakeholders.
  • To manage meeting arrangements including room booking for interviews, and organising hotel and travel for events such as Open Days and exhibitions.
  • Responsible for the administration of the recruitment web site and the registered applicant training programme
  • Produce and update franchisee Recruitment and Reputation presentations and reports.
  • Manage the Customer Relation Management (SAGE CRM) system to handle leads and prospective franchisees from events.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports on franchising recruitment for a number of stakeholders within the business and external law firms.

Transactions (The legal process of a change in ownership of a restaurant)

  • To support a selection of transactions such as the sale of:
    • A new restaurant – from the deal being presented to having documents and funds in place before opening.
    • A company owned restaurant.
    • A new term – i.e. Another 20 year term to the same franchisee. From the new term being approved, to having documents, funds and landlords consent in place before new term.
  • To manage the checking, signing and distribution of legal documents for all transactions.
  • Instructing solicitors and working closely with solicitors, franchisees and field services on the sale of a restaurant.
  • Complete weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on franchising transactions for a number of stakeholders within the business and external law firms.

New Term

  • To support the collation of pre-read data for New Term meetings
  • To support the distribution of New Term letters to the Executive team for signing and to franchisees.

Department Communication

  • To deal with franchising trade press and advertising contacts in relation to National Franchising marketing plans
  • To assist with all day-to-day internal and external department communication in the form of emails, letters, telephone calls, one on one and in meetings.

  • An enthusiastic team player with a professional manner and a mature, can-do attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high standard of literacy for the production of reports and written correspondence with extremely strong attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Positive telephone manner
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter, with ability to use own initiative and spot opportunities to develop current systems and take ownership of individual projects
  • A mature attitude and approach
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business from other departments to the Executive team and external suppliers and customers, representing the brand
  • Well-presented with a professional manner
