Outsourcing Placement – Cambridge, UK and Limburg, Germany

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a team of professionals responsible for outsourcing the company’s international pharmaceutical R&D work, and dedicated to achieving excellence in all that they do. This varied and stimulating placement offers broad opportunities, including a 6 month secondment at Mundipharma Research GmbH & Co. KG in Limburg, Germany. There will be scope to learn alongside experienced professionals in areas including vendor assessment and selection, proposal and cost analysis, contract negotiation and management, vendor market intelligence, relationship management, project cost forecasting and ongoing financial analysis.

Broad purpose of job

As a member of the Outsourcing team work with colleagues from the UK and Germany to assist in vendor selection, contract management and invoice processing.

Specific duties & responsibilities

Vendor Selection, Contract Negotiation & Performance Management
Work with established processes and tools to ensure the company attracts and selects vendors who meet the agreed specification. Assist with preparing requests for proposal and developing project scopes for outsourced work. Assist with negotiation in order to finalise contracts that meet company and vendor criteria. Assist with the management of vendor performance.

Relationship Management
Work towards building and maintaining high-value external and internal professional relationships in order to maximise the benefits of the outsourcing strategy and objectives, balancing the needs of internal customers, external vendors, and the team.

Communication
Work to promote awareness and understanding of customer requirements and team responsibilities to improve cross-functional dialogue. Work within internal and external networks to maximise the flow of information and build local and global industry awareness.

Invoice Processing
Work with established processes, tools and resources for payment checking and reconciliations in accordance with contracts.

Personal Development
Commit to the management of own personal development in order to continuously improve self and the contribution to the organisation.

Departmental Improvements
Assist with the continuous improvement and development of department systems and
processes.

Additional Responsibilities
Undertake any other reasonable activities as required by the Outsourcing Manager.

What we expect from you

We are seeking an individual who is currently studying for a business-related degree and looking for a one year work placement. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a problem solving attitude. The role involves building strong relationships across the business internationally and you will therefore be a committed team player mindful of cultural differences with a strong customer focus, have excellent interpersonal and written skills, and have the ability to establish credibility with people at all levels of the organisation. A strong aptitude in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint would be very valuable.
