About Land Registry

Land Registry is a government agency created in 1862 to register the ownership of land and property in England and Wales, and facilitate one of the most active property and mortgage markets in the world. Our vision is ‘to be recognised as a world leader in the digital delivery of land registration services and in the management and reuse of land and property data’.

Land Registry Information Systems is an award winning, in-house IT department that builds and maintains the systems and infrastructure used by Land Registry staff. In addition we develop and support external services that are used by thousands of customers from banks and solicitors to newspapers, to the general public.

It’s an exciting time as we transition to new ways of delivering our services, including a move to the new .GOV.UK website. A Government Digital Service (GDS) Exemplar for an Alpha project, we are using Agile methodologies to deliver new and improved services using a variety of software and hardware. These include award winning systems such as Property Alert and Map Search.

The Role

We’re looking to recruit four enthusiastic undergraduates to join a forward thinking organisation that recognises talent and encourages personal development.

Joining us for a 12 month placement, based at Information Systems, in the vibrant, waterfront city of Plymouth, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a number of different IT areas, developing your skills and experience. You will be working with, and supporting, our key operational staff who build and maintain Land Registry’s IT systems.

What will you get from us?

A year tailored to meet your development needs and experience in a variety of different areas. We will work with you to ensure that you get the most out of your time working with us. We will support your development aspirations and offer flexibility in your working week, to enable you to achieve a positive work life balance. Benefits include 28.5 days annual leave plus public holidays and flexi leave. You will have flexible start and finish times and other extremely competitive benefits.

Hear what some of our current placement students have to say…

“I have been fortunate enough to travel to Head Office and work on one of the largest projects Land Registry has undertaken. This was a real eye opener into real life projects and a great experience.”

“I gained more qualifications whilst working here, particularly in Agile where I now have a BCS Accredited Foundation in Agile. These skills are being used in my project, and in time to achieve more when I return to Uni. My managers and I enjoyed working as an Agile Team, and this is built on professionally, and is more rewarding than trying it at Uni.”
