About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month internship with the Health, Safety, Quality & Environment team at Siemens Rail Systems, as part of Siemens Mobility division. As an intern, you will be supporting the HSQE team through varied challenges and opportunities, gaining valuable experience in the following areas:

  • Coordinating HSQE legislation and standards reviews
  • Reviewing new and existing legislation and standards applicable to business activities
  • Collating HSQE data monthly and annual reports
  • Observing internal and external audits and inpsections
  • Ensuring a programme of audits and inspections is maintained for all business activities, and that corrective actions raised are tracked and completed in a timely manner
  • Developing, implementing, maintaining and improving HSQE management systems to ensure compliance with all relevant standards, with particular emphasis on systems suitable for Rolling Stock aftersales activities
  • Supporting the Fleet Delivery Managers in day to day operation of the Depot HSQE management systems, with particular emphasis on Engineers/Technicians working on Rolling Stock activities.
  • Assessing HSQE risks to the Rolling Stock business activities and design and help implement mitigations to those risks.
  • Creating and maintaining HSQE information sources, such as risk registers
  • Assisting in the implementation of corporate initiatives
  • Identifying areas for improvement and facilitate implementation

We are looking for someone who is professional, analytical, a strong team player, and who is willing to learn and support the HSQE team in assisting the continuous development and improvement of the business.

What are my responsibilities?

  • To report to the HSQE Manager and take ownership for the completion of all allocated tasks to the best of your ability
  • To fully participate and engage with the internship scheme, by completing all elements of a structured training plan, including the Siemens plc Intern Development Programme
  • To work towards personal goals and objectives set at regular learner reviews, and actively seek opportunities for personal and professional development

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • You must be studying towards a 2:2 or above degree in Environmental Studies, Safety, Business Management, or a related subject
  • You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You must have excellent organisational and time management skills
  • You must have excellent problem solving, analytical and reasoning skills
  • You must be a good team player and also be able to work independently and be self motivated
