We currently have Industrial Placement Year opportunities for students studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying in the following offices:

Newcastle, Nottingham, and Leeds (please note we may be adding further locations in the New Year) Our placement year opportunities generally last between 10-12 months

Responsibilities

Working within a team (reporting to an Associate Director or Senior Surveyor) you will work on a variety of projects:

  • On small or major projects
  • Undertaking feasibility cost plans
  • Assist in compiling bills of quantities, builders bills or procurement packages
  • Helping to compile periodic cost reports or reports for budgetary or taxation purposes
  • Measure and value works carried out on sites for interim and final valuations
  • Utilise CATO software for all of the above
  • Drafting and compiling appointment, tender and contract documentation
  • Identifying the right technical and best value solutions put forward within negotiated contracts
  • Analyse accountancy spend reports
  • Liaise with colleagues and peers both within Faithful+Gould and the wider supply chain to ensure technical
  • deliverables are delivered on time and to the client requirements
  • Attending design team and construction stage team meetings and taking minutes
  • Assisting with Contract Administration of projects on site
  • To provide part of the professional presentation of a world class business
  • Opportunity to spend time in the Cost Management, Project Management, Consult or CDMC Teams
  • Managing your own workload

Requirements

We are seeking high-calibre under graduates who enjoy a technical challenge and are focused on delivering results for our clients. Applicants are required to be working towards a 2:1 degree in Surveying, and have a sound understanding of the main Microsoft office packages including Excel, Word and Project, familiarity with CATO or similar cost management tools is useful but not essential.

This role is a year in industry role, therefore applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 months.
