About Ulster Bank

Ulster Bank meets the retail, corporate and private banking needs of 1.9 million customers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Part of RBS since 2000, we have 214 branches across Ireland and a business banking presence in every county.

Our summer internships are a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience, in a culture that makes personal and professional development a priority. We offer a variety of internships in key areas of the bank, so whatever career path you’re considering, we’ve got an internship to suit you.

What you can expect

You’ll gain a real understanding of our plans and culture, and start shaping our business from day one, working on important, live business projects. It’s all about helping you to develop vital skills that will impact the rest of your career. Not only that, but you’ll be surrounded by some of the best colleagues in the industry, ready to share their expertise, guide, and support you on journey.

Throughout your induction, you’ll take part in an exceptional training programme, to teach you the basics of the financial industry, after which you’ll join your team, and learn how your business area works. You’ll also take part in our team-based charity fundraiser challenges, which will give you the opportunity to contribute to the communities in which we operate, all while building a network of other driven, like-minded interns.

About you

We’re looking for penultimate-year students from any academic background. You’ll need to be a fast learner with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. What we’re most interested in though, are fresh ideas, enthusiasm and commitment to building a successful future in banking.

Whichever part of the business you’re eager to join, we guarantee you’ll make an important contribution. Your initiative ideas and hard work will play a part in building a brighter future for RBS.

What you’ll learn

You’ll be learning every day – from your manager, from your buddy and simply from being in a fast-moving and supportive environment. Working on live business assignments will hone your project management and presentation skills, and the meetings and opportunities to socialise will build your confidence and raise your communication and networking skills.

Most importantly, by the end of the programme, you’ll have a detailed understanding of where you want to take the next step in your career, as well as the skills, the knowledge and the support to get there.
