If your passions lie in engineering, a placement with us can open up a world of opportunity to you. We own, manage and develop Britain’s railway – that’s 20,000 miles of track, 40,000 bridges and viaducts, and thousands of signals and level crossings. But there’s more to our organisation than infrastructure alone.

We’re one of the UK’s biggest land and property owners – and its largest provider of commercial business space for SMEs. We have 600,000sq ft of retail space. Our own app store. A dedicated recycling centre. And some of the most advanced technology in the country.

That all means you’ll have enormous scope to build a broad spectrum of experience as you help to take Britain’s transport network and economy into the 22nd century. And you’ll be learning from some of the most highly respected professionals in the industry.

As our network is so vast, we’ve geographically split it into 10 autonomous routes. Based on one of them, you can choose from either Finance, General Management, Property or Planning within our Business Management placement.

Your development

Whatever your placement, you’ll work as part of a team, taking on real responsibility from day one, while developing core business skills. You’ll learn through on-the-job experiences and training programmes at our leadership development centre. If you do well, you could also secure a place on one of our graduate schemes.

Our requirements

• You'll need to have achieved a 2:2 (or equivalent) during your first year and be on course to achieve the same in your second year
• Drive, passion and the desire to learn are all important, and you’ll need to be available in September 2015 for a minimum of 48 weeks
• For our Business Management placements, you can apply regardless of your degree discipline, however we're particularly keen to hear from candidates who have studied Business / Management / Project Management
