What industrial placements are on offer?

We are looking for students studying any degree to join us in business, engineering or science roles. Our 12 month placements are aimed at students who have the skills and experience to add value to our company, as well as the potential to build a long-term career with us.

We have a variety of fantastic business-focused industrial placement opportunities in Communications, Digital Communications, Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Sales and Marketing and Supply Chain.

A communications industrial placement gives you the chance to help give GSK a voice both internally and externally by creating and delivering clear and consistent messages to employees patients, consumers and doctors, shareholders, investors, partners, the media and the general public.

In digital communications you will gain hands on experience of managing GSK's corporate digital channels including GSK.com, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn providing relevant and up to date information.

A finance industrial placement will offer you wide-ranging experiences and offer exposure to many different finance roles. You'll do a real job, with responsibilities and deliverables, whether you're embedded within our research and development (R&D), commercial, manufacturing or corporate functions.

In a human resources industrial placement you can expect to gain a breadth of HR and business knowledge while seeing the workings of a diverse global organisation and experiencing core areas of our HR model. You will gain experience delivering a project within one of our global HR teams including HR Services, University Relations, Talent, Leadership and Development, coaching and Viiv Healthcare – an independent company in which we partner with Pfizer to address the needs of those living with AIDS.

Our IT industrial placement offers the unique opportunity to be involved at the heart of one of the most exciting and challenging learning environments in the company. IT within GSK is about utilising technology as part of our strategic journey to deliver life-enhancing healthcare that enables people to do more, feel better and live longer.

Procurement is a pioneering, influencing function; you’ll help GSK to buy goods and services on a global scale alongside partnering with business units to drive value from supplier relationships to support GSK’s strategies and targets to ensure a secure supply in all areas of our business – from consumer health products to pharmaceutical development.

In Regulatory Affairs you will be working in our consumer business playing a pivotal role in maintaining the safety of our products. Ensuring that products such as Sensodyne, NiQuitin and Beechams are developed, licensed, manufactured, distributed and marketed in compliance with the relevant local legislation in order to help our customers and patients do more, feel better and live longer.

Sales & marketing gives you the opportunity to work on a range of challenging assignments for our leading consumer brands. Supported by senior managers within GSK’s UK Commercial business, you’ll gain a valuable insight into GSK and the healthcare environment as a whole alongside developing your business acumen and marketing knowledge on a global scale.

Our Supply Chain industrial placement programme will provide you with an in depth understanding of the supply chain process. Your projects and other assignments will contribute to improvements in to help ensure patients and customers at the end of the supply chain get the right product at the right quality.
