Division introduction

The UK Theatrical Distribution division co-ordinates the sales and distribution of Warner Bros. films throughout UK and Ireland. The marketing department is responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies on all releases, The Trade Marketing Dept is responsible and for all activity in cinemas including exhibitor relations, point of sale display and promotional activity. Creative Services is responsible for the creation and production of all advertising and publicity material in the UK.

Purpose of position

The intern will work on a diverse range of projects supporting both the Senior Marketing Managers (SMM) across all In Cinema and Trade Marketing activity and the Senior Production Manager (SPM) across Creative Services and Production.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on creative and analytical marketing experience within the world of Theatrical film distribution working with responsibility across the whole of the Warner Bros film slate.

Example projects and skills

  • Ensure regular dialogue and updates with the three Regional Marketing Executives to disseminate key information coordinate activity and assist the (MM) SMM in ensuring best practise and strong campaign activity.
  • Develop expertise in the WB proprietary system ‘CineHub’, championing this to share approved creative and information for upcoming films. The Intern will also be expected to keep the system up to date with approved assets working in other systems to manage this alongside the Marketing Executives.
  • Work alongside the Deluxe account manager and Regional Executives to ensure ordering and placement of merchandise for promotional activity in cinemas.
  • Work with the SMM and Marketing Team to develop and maintain strong relationships with key UK exhibition contacts across the trade to assist in the conception and implementation of promotions across all titles.
  • Work with the SPM and (MM) SMM to create wrap reports for creative and promotional campaigns ensuring campaign highlights are documented and shared across the business.
  • Develop strong relationships with creative and media agencies to access assets and accurate information including media values for promotional activity.
  • Assist SPM in the management and review of creative assets and dissemination of information to team and agencies.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders and maintain budget documents to ensure detail is managed on a project basis communicating closely with both the SMM and SPM in these areas.
  • Creation and maintenance of slate presentations and documents for meetings with key UK exhibitors.
  • Document and capture learning’s from the role across the year to ensure a smooth handover to the next Intern.

Skills/abilities required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive approach and attitude.
  • Ability to communicate well and to take the initiative to get things done in a pro-active manner.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay cool when the pressure is on.
  • Demonstrates dynamism, creative flair and passion for the industry.
  • Excellent administrative skills and knowledge of computer packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Marketing, Business Studies, Maths, Economics or undergraduate preferred.
  • Strong GCSE and A level results, or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience is advantageous.
