Using some of the world’s most advanced technology to combat terrorists. Developing unique systems to help counter cyber crime. Going head-to-head with the most skilled hackers. These are the kind of things you could be involved in at GCHQ.

We’re the UK’s cyber security experts, using a wide range of technologies to help protect the UK’s people, businesses and interests against a variety of online threats. It’s an exciting, challenging and stimulating technical environment where you’ll be involved in a variety of rare and unique projects, covering the full range of software, hardware and networks, from some of the earliest technologies to all of the latest.

Join one of our student schemes and you’ll not only be helping to safeguard the UK, but you’ll also be working with and learning from some of the country’s leading technical experts.

Summer placement: 11 weeks’ paid work between your penultimate and final year.

Two-year summer placement: Up to 22 weeks’ paid work in the last two summers of your degree course.

Industrial placement year: A 51-week placement during your degree.

To join any of our schemes, you’ll need to be studying a relevant degree, such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Security, Physics, Software Engineering or Telecommunications. Just as important, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to use advanced technology to help protect the UK.
