If you’re a first-year student looking to take your first steps into to the world of banking, our Spring Week internships are the best place to start. As well as giving you an idea of what it’s really like to work at an international financial institution, you’ll be able to get invaluable hands on experience in an area of your choice. Join us in Support & Control Functions to see whether it’s the future career for you.

About the programme

Our Support & Control Functions play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in shaping RBS’s future. Planning finances, managing risk and delivering change – simply put, we couldn’t do what we do without them. Over the course of the week, you’ll be exposed to an incredible range of business opportunities during your time with us. From seeing how we give financial insight and manage risk to assisting us in putting together brand new working practices or industry-defining communications plans, you certainly won’t be bored. You might even find yourself helping to reassure important stakeholders that the evolution of RBS is firmly on track. Whichever function you join for the week, you’ll quickly start to understand the wider RBS business and what the future means for us and our customers. Plus, you’ll be busy shadowing our current graduates, taking part in personal development sessions and going to speaker events. At the end of the week, we hope you’ll have a good idea of how things work at RBS and how you could fit in. Plus, if you impress us during your time here, and in your final assessment tasks, we might even offer you a place on our Summer Internship programme for the following year.

About you

Spring Week is open to first year university students. And because we want to work with people who think differently, we welcome applications from all degree disciplines. All we ask is that you have a strong academic record, a genuine interest in a financial services career and the enthusiasm and curiosity to make a success of your time with us.

About the bank you build

RBS is a bank with a history of looking ahead. We granted the world’s first overdraft, launched the first mobile bank and developed the first fully functional smartphone app. Today we’re an international financial services group operating in the UK, Europe, the Americas and Asia. We have a clear vision for the future of our bank. Now build it.
