About the programme
Simply put, Commercial Banking provides commercial banking services to businesses. An internship here is a great way to see how our market-leading teams operate and how we influence and encourage enterprise. You can expect business-specific workshops, spotlight sessions with senior stakeholders, an assessed group presentation and much, much more. And at the same time, you’ll be learning every day – from your manager, from your buddy, even just from working in a fast-moving office environment. In your induction, you’ll learn the basics of the financial industry. Then you’ll get down to business, learning how Commercial Banking works and how its six different business streams operate.
Over the course of your 10 weeks with us, you’ll be given the specialised training and tools required to take on a reasonable amount of responsibility in Commercial Banking. Attending social events and meetings will help your communication and networking skills, while working on live business assignments from the off will make you a better project manager and presenter. We set various charity fundraising challenges throughout the summer, giving you the chance to socialise with other interns and develop your team-work skills. We hope that at end of your time with us, you’ll have an understanding of both how RBS works and how you could make our future even brighter.
About you
As a penultimate-year student, you’ll need to be a fast learner with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. Your degree subject doesn’t matter – we’re more interested in your curious mind, fresh ideas and genuine enthusiasm for our industry. If you can add to all that a strong academic record and the motivation to make a success of your time with us, that’ll be a plus too.
