The Role

This role is one of two in the IT department and is within the Internal IT Support team, which is responsible for providing internal desktop, network, voice and back office support to Clearswift users.

In addition, Clearswift delivers product based managed services to its customer base. The team you will be working in is also responsible for ensuring service availability for those systems & services, to provide updates to customers running our Products.

As the IT Support Technician/Placement Student your focus will be to ensure that Clearswift users and customers are provided with a quality IT support service. The role will be technically hands-on, with a strong culture of doing what needs to be done. Project work is a key part of this role, and you will be expected to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Working within the ITIL framework (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), you will be expected to liaise and coordinate with other Clearswift departments to provide resolutions to issues and maintain service levels.

You will be expected to gain key skills in networking, systems and software, as well as processes that many companies use to manage their IT infrastructure.

Within this role you will develop your skills using various computer hardware, software and networking infrastructure, and be involved with various IT projects, and troubleshooting/resolution of IT issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first point of contact for Clearswift staff to the IT Helpdesk, ensuring that issues are recorded and classified by priority.
  • Carry out first line diagnosis and troubleshooting activities, assisted by senior members of the team, updating the Helpdesk system with problem solving steps and resolution of issues.
  • Complete documentation for projects and issue resolution.
  • Provide tracking and monitoring of incidents with regular updates to the user on status.
  • Participate in IT team meetings, reporting on areas of responsibility and presenting on project activities as required.
  • Daily service check of various IT services.
  • Timely completion of project objectives as agreed.
  • Participate in personal development and training.
  • The creation and analysis of management reports as requested.
  • Taking part in the IT procurement process ensuring financial controls and value for money, and ensuring that orders placed are tracked and received in a timely manner.
  • Building our appliances, for both evaluation and sale to customers.
