About you

We are looking for keen, enthusiastic industrial placement students to and join our Operational business. Ideally you will already have gained some experience or knowledge of Logistics or Transport; however we do accept applications from all degree disciplines. You will need to be extremely driven and motivated, and have a real desire to make a difference. You will also need to share our passion for people, both as a team player and as a future senior manager.

The job is not 9-5 and won’t be repetitive – you will be out and about, getting involved and really making an impact on the way we do things to constantly improve our performance. Geographic mobility is important as well as the possession of a full driving licence and a car

About the role

Our Operations Industrial Placement scheme has been designed to offer our industrial placement students the same experience and responsibility offered in the first placement of our Operational Graduate Management Trainee Scheme – creating a brilliant platform to start your career with Gist and providing first-hand experience of leading people and experiencing how our business operates.

The scheme offers a structured, but uniquely tailored schedule that support each individual’s progression and development. As you progress through the scheme, we ensure you are rewarded – by managing larger teams and taking on greater challenges. You will be allocated a buddy a few months ahead of you joining, who will be a graduate from the site that you will join for your placement, to help you get settled into life at Gist and the site. You will also be allocated a mentor from our senior management structure, who will be there to offer support and guidance on your career development for the duration of your time on the scheme.

Due to the nature of our Scheme you must be flexible with your location of employment, and could be based in any one of our 40+ UK sites for your placement year.

What is the Recruitment process?

We have a three stage process; after application screening the next step in the process is a competency based telephone interview with a member of our HR team. If successful you will then be asked to attend a Depot Day, which is your opportunity to find out more about life in an Operational environment through a depot tour and Q&A session with some of our current Graduates, as well as for us to assess you in person through a competency based interview with one of our Operational Managers. The final stage is an Assessment centre at our head office in Basingstoke
