Siemens, the leading global provider of wind energy solutions is expanding its research and development (R & D) capability in the UK with new investments in its facility at Keele University. Siemens' Wind Power division will expand its team at the university’s Science and Business Park (KUSBP), a centre dedicated to leading edge R & D for wind power converter technology. Made up of specialist engineers, researchers and support staff, the team is primarily responsible for developing new power converters and related technologies for large onshore and offshore wind turbines.

What are my responsibilities?

In this role the successful applicant will be part of the research and development team supporting the power converter, digital control hardware and real time embedded control software used in wind turbines. Your internship will involve a directed course of work in one of the following areas:

  • Support of PCB manufacturing and testing.
  • Development testing of control electronics and software.
  • Design of control and power hardware.
  • Development and deployment of real time control software.
  • Research into new control hardware and software solutions
  • Validation of components/equipment in laboratory/wind turbines.
  • After sales support of power converter products.
What do I need to qualify for this role?

You will be studying towards an electrical and/or electronic engineering related degree
