Deadline: 24th April 2014
Salary: £15,000 pro rata
Length: Internship (1 Month+)
Roles: Customer Service, PR & Communications
Location: Scotland
City: Glasgow

The world’s leading ground passenger transport company, we help 2.5 billion people each year to get to where they want to go. Every single day, our 120,000 people keep communities moving by bus, coach and train.

Join us as an intern this summer and you’ll get to grips with many different aspects of bus operations, as you help us to provide the best services possible and ensure Glasgow runs smoothly during the Commonwealth Games. You’ll learn new skills at the heart of the action, as you immerse yourself in the world of FirstGroup and get to know our culture, people and fantastic opportunities.

We’re looking for five talented and ambitious students to join us for 8 to 12 weeks over the summer from the 14th July. Whatever degree you’re studying, you’ll learn-on-the job on all kinds of projects and be valued for the big impact you make. Impress us and we’ll invite you to join one of our operations or engineering graduate schemes when you graduate.

As one of our Staff Welfare Assistants, you’ll be based at the accommodation we’re putting on for volunteers and colleagues from across the UK who will help us put on more services during the Games. Acting as the focal point of contact between volunteers, our Staff Services Manager and the accommodation provider, you’ll make sure our people know what to do and arrive at work on time. As punctual and as reliable as one of our buses, you’ll answer questions, look after our people’s welfare and support and deputise for our Bus Systems Manager.

This will involve getting to know the local area and on-site facilities, inspecting the accommodation in advance and helping people on arrival with registration and ID cards. Keeping track of everyone to make sure our services are well resourced, you’ll also provide updates on changes and get stuck into all kinds of activities back at the bus depot.

So, enjoy improving your skills, experience and career prospects this summer. And see first-hand the impact our graduates have on our business.
