The Challenge Network is a fast-growing social enterprise that connects and inspires people across Britain to strengthen their communities. NCS with The Challenge is a programme that brings together young people from different backgrounds, builds their confidence, and challenges them to make a difference in their local community. In summer 2014, 16,500 young people across London, the West Midlands and the North West will take part in NCS with The Challenge for an intensive three-week summer programme followed by four weekends in the autumn.
The Role
We are looking for Practitioners who will work during summer 2014 to support between six and twelve teams of young people through the second part of the programme (Team Challenge) in London, Surrey, West Midlands or North West England. They are involved in teaching a curriculum of either drama, enterprise, media, music, photography or sport.
Practitioners are responsible for leading sessions teaching their skill, over three days, to a team of twelve young people. The Practitioner then takes that team on visits to local community groups (including youth clubs and homeless centres) so that the young people can pass on their skills, culminating in a showcase performance.
This role is suitable for someone with experience of facilitating sessions with young people. This is a fulfilling and demanding position which involves supporting the skill development of around twelve sixteen-year-olds at a time.
